Dave considers himself a semi-native of Vermont. "He wasn't born here but he got here as quick as he could". His mother's family has a long history in the Charlotte/Ferrisburgh area, including his Great-Aunt Julia who was a schoolteacher in a one-room schoolhouse and his great-great-great uncle who is credited with preserving the Beluga whale skeleton unearthed by railroad workers in Charlotte. Dave fondly remembers spending all the summers of his youth at the lakefront cottage that his grandfather built on Long Point.
After living in several Northeastern states as a child, Dave graduated from Manalapan High School in Englishtown, New Jersey then moved on to study engineering and then business at The City University of New York at Brooklyn College earning his way through school as a motorcycle messenger in NYC and working for a Wall Street brokerage firm.
